dir en grey Return with Double London Date

dir en grey
Japanese avant-garde metallers dir en grey return to the UK this May, ready to perform tracks from their brand new album ARCHE for the first time live in the UK.

The band will be performing at the O2 Academy Islington in London on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May 2015 as part of the European leg of their TOUR15 THE UNSTOPPABLE LIFE tour, which also includes shows in Germany, France, Holland, Poland and Belarus. Regular tickets are on sale now from TicketWeb with a face value of £28.12. VIP tickets are available from See Tickets and start at £80.

Bold and sensitive, chaotic and melodic, over the course of nine albums, dir en grey have become one of the biggest names in Japanese rock to break outside of their home country. Embraced by the international rock media, support for the band has been overwhelmingly positive, especially in the UK, where they became the first (and so far only) Japanese band to appear on the cover of Kerrang! Magazine.

New album ARCHE is out from 2 March on double CD from Gan Shin Records (order from Amazon), and is also out now digitally on Amazon MP3, iTunes and partically on Spotify.

Perfume Set to Intoxicate Europe This July

2013 is the year of J-pop. First Harajuku heroine Kyary Pamyu Pamyu left London giddy in February with a sold out show at the O2 Academy Islington, and now the mighty electro-pop threesome Perfume have just announced that they’re London bound on Friday 5 July as part of their ‘WORLD TOUR 2nd’ tour, which includes Germany (3 July) and France (7 July).

Tickets for the show in London go on sale first to O2 customers from 9am on 13 April, followed by Live Nation pre-sale from 9am on 14 April, and general sale from 15 April 2013. Tickets will be available from this link, priced at £22.50 plus fees.

Promoters Live Nation had this to say about the group;

Perfume are a three piece techno-pop girl group from Hiroshima, Japan, consisting of Aa-CHAN, KASHIYUKA, and NOCCHi. Formed in 2000, the group released their debut major label single in 2005. Their album “GAME” – released in April 2008 – reached number 1 in the Japanese chart, since then, all of their subsequent albums have also taken the number 1 spot.

In 2010, Perfume performed to 50,000 fans at a sold out show at Tokyo Dome and also received the Best Asian Pop Artist award at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA). Their first Asian tour – “Perfume WORLD TOUR 1st” – in 2012 also saw them perform to sold-out crowds in four Asian countries.

Known for their futuristic concept and creative dance performances, don’t miss your chance to see Perfume live this July.

Anyway, despite being lovers of rock here, we have a special place in our hearts for the likes of Kyary and Perfume. Check out the video for FAKE IT from Perfume and see what you think:

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu Sells Out London’s Islington Academy

In little over a day Harajuku’s ‘Kawaii Ambassador’ Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has managed to sell out London’s 800 capacity O2 Islington Academy. Her UK debut show will take place on Wednesday 13 February as part of her 100%KPP WORLD TOUR 2013. So far two other European dates have been announced; a show in Brussels (Belgium) with Vk* Concerts on 9 February, followed by a date in Paris’ La Cigale on 10 February.

Congratulation, the young star’s creating a Pamyu Pamyu Revolution, and we wonder how long it will be until other Japanese pop acts decide to venture out into Europe seeking similar success.
