Japanese distorted rock trio N’SHUKUGAWA BOYS are known for ‘shocking costumes’ and ‘outrageous live performances’ in their native Japan, but on Wednesday 9 October they hope to make a name for themselves in the UK with an exclusive, rare live set at London punk dive The Pipeline.

Described as 80s inspired rock that is ‘poppy and cute. As bright as Cyndi Lauper but much, much more punk’ (MTV 81), N’SHUKUGAWA BOYS see themselves as a combination of their favourite rock heroes. “We inhale everything out of bands like Joy Division, Oblivians, The Smiths, The La’s, Velvet Underground, The Cure, The Kills, Suicide, The White Stripes, Barbee Boys, The Drums and Iggy Pop. Take a deep breath, and exhale this sound,” explains panda-eyed member MARYA Love.

N’SHUKUGAWA BOYS members ditch the band rulebook by each member taking turns at playing the drums, guitar and bass parts. More often than not bass is left out entirely to make way for improvised dance and other stage-based misbehaviour.

Their eclectic style has rewarded them with many fans across the world, with the videos to hit tracks Monogatari wa Chito? Fuantei and PLANET MAGIC on YouTube breaking one million views each.

ONE OK ROCK to Play London, Paris and Cologne in October 2013

Premier rockers ONE OK ROCK will embark on their long-awaited European tour this October courtesy of Speakeasy and B7klan! Fusing elements of emo, heavy metal and pop-rock, the band have gone on from playing small-time concerts in 2005, to sold out arena shows across Japan.

Their latest album Jinsei × Boku = is out now on iTunes (click here to buy it from the UK store) and contains tracks mixed by John Feldmann (producer/engineer of The Used, Panic! at the Disco), and Danish engineer Tue Madsen (“The Beginning”). Plus, the band also had an opportunity to work with multiple Grammy award-winning engineer Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, Avril Lavigne, Hoobastank) in the final stage of the album production, securing ONE OK ROCK with the trademarked sound incorporating western rock with the flair of the Japanese.

Anyway, enough about that. You’re here for the tour dates after all. Whack these beauties in your calenders;

Thu 24 October 2013 –  Werkstatt, Cologne, Germany.
Sat 26 October 2013 – The Garage, London, UK.
Sun 27 October 2013 – Bataclan, Paris, France.

Tickets will be available from 1 June on b7klan’s homepage at 10AM: http://www.b7klan.com/ we’re guessing that’s B7klan’s local time, so 9AM for those in the UK!

We’ll leave you with one of our favourite videos from the band:

Tickets Now on Sale for illion’s Debut UK Live

If the wallpaper, the side bar advert or us banging on about it for what seems like forever wasn’t a big enough hint, there’s this guy called Yojiro Noda. He’s the vocalist of RADWIMPS. He’s heading to London very soon with his solo project illion. And it’s kind of a big deal.

Tickets for his debut UK love show went on sale this morning for £25 (click here to grab yours). And to prove to you that illion is serious business, they’re putting him on at the massive O2 Shepherds Bush Empire on Sunday 17 March 2013.

In December illion album track ‘BRAIN DRAIN’ previewed on Youtube for 48 hours. Those lucky enough to tune in were treated to a video recorded at London’s Abbey Road Studios, but which ultimately revealed very little about the project. The sound, in our opinion was very different from what we’re used to from RADWIMPS. Instead  it reminded us more of London’s own part-Japanese singer-songwriting unit Tori Tori Bird, with piano leading the melody.

BRAIN DRAIN has since been released as a digital single, and can be downloaded now from iTunes for 99p by clicking here.

Although RADWIMPS’ DADA is one of our favourite tracks, we’ll leave you with their song Me Me She. It has such a sweet video.
