Boom Boom Satellites Reveal Their Top 10 Albums of 2013

Their debut album OUT LOUD is still amongst our most favourite albums ever, and possibly one of the most important albums of the last two decades in the evolution of Japan’s electronic scene. So for us, it was an absolute honour to release their 8th album EMBRACE last year, and with the new year underway, we thought we’d take the opportunity to speak to BBS’ Michiyuki Kawashima and Masayuki Nakano on their favourite albums of the past year. The results are… not what we were expecting!

01. Kanye West – Yeezus [Spotify]
02. Thundercat – Apocalypse
03. M.I.A – Matangi [Spotify]
04. Arctic Monkeys – AM [Spotify]
05. These new puritans – Field of Reeds [Spotify]
06. Boom Boom Satellites – EMBRACE
07. Young Echo – Nexus [Spotify]
08. Monolake – Ghosts [Spotify]
09. Arcade Fire – Reflektor [Spotify]
10. Boom Boom Satellites – EXPERIENCED

To be fair, those two BBS albums were so good, if we were them we’d have included them in our top ten as well. EMBRACE is out now across Europe on CD with an exclusive bonus track, as well as in digital formats (without the bonus, mind!) About Tom Smith
Some say he's fuelled on nothing but energy drinks, and that when he visits Japan, he spends the whole time engaging the ground in an all too familiar way. But what we do know is that his words on the country's entertainment and culture find their way into NEO Magazine on a monthly basis, while everything else finds its way here. Be it quirky news item from the Land of the Rising Sun, or a story so gruesome it'd be rude not to pass it on, you'll find it here along with his general posts about life, work and most importantly play. And yes, he has had articles printed in the likes of MCV, GamesMaster, 360 Gamer and more, thanks for noticing.

Embrace was an absolutely banging album, loved it from start to end, and to be fair even the slower pace songs were awesome as well, such a good balance
