NoGoD Stand Up! for Their Right to Wear Make-up

NoGoD are possibly one of our favourite, overlooked visual kei artists of recent years. We still remember receiving a review copy of their third album Kakera (get it on CD/DVD or MP3) from CLJ Records – their first release in Europe as far as we’re aware. Back then, vocalist Danchou was going for some weird clown look – and this writer wasn’t digging it. All pre-conceived expectations of An Cafe-styled monstrosity were blown away when first full-track ‘Shinzou‘ blasted our eardrums with its metalcore-inspired guitar work and post-hardcore screams.

Now switching European label to Gan Shin, the group release their latest maxi-single Stand Up! digitally. The three tracks included don’t disappoint. Every one is upbeat, fierce and falls somewhere between Deluhi and abingdon boys school, by way of old skool Girugamesh – no bad thing indeed.

About Tom Smith
Some say he's fuelled on nothing but energy drinks, and that when he visits Japan, he spends the whole time engaging the ground in an all too familiar way. But what we do know is that his words on the country's entertainment and culture find their way into NEO Magazine on a monthly basis, while everything else finds its way here. Be it quirky news item from the Land of the Rising Sun, or a story so gruesome it'd be rude not to pass it on, you'll find it here along with his general posts about life, work and most importantly play. And yes, he has had articles printed in the likes of MCV, GamesMaster, 360 Gamer and more, thanks for noticing.
