fade: Jon Underdown Returns without GACKT for Latest EP

fade: (l-r) Godo, noriyuki, Jon, rui, kansei

Jon Under-who? Underdown; the topless Caucasian vocalist that camped up venues across Europe with GACKT and Yellow Fried Chickenz  earlier this year. Yep, that’s the one. Well, he’s back, fully clothed – as far as we’re aware – and is providing vocals for fade, whose latest EP is ready to drop across Europe and the UK from Friday 23 December thanks to Gan Shin Records.

Entitled Kings of Dawn, the seven-track release exclusively includes ‘face (unplugged version)’, which has never previously been released, and also includes the band’s cover of Bon Jovi’s classic ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ (whoo-ooa!).

fade began life in New York City in 1991 when American national rui formed it with his lowercase-abusing buddies kansei and noriyuki. By 1994 the trio had shifted to Tokyo where it found its guitarist, and seven years later completed its line-up with Jon Underdown on vocals. Since then they’ve shared stages with the likes of Limp Bizkit, Nine Inch Nails and Megadeth, and featured on the song ‘One Reason‘ from the opening of the anime Deadman Wonderland.

The European edition of the EP will be available for download from 23 December from Amazon.co.uk – we’ll supply links to other sources when they become available.

About Tom Smith
Some say he's fuelled on nothing but energy drinks, and that when he visits Japan, he spends the whole time engaging the ground in an all too familiar way. But what we do know is that his words on the country's entertainment and culture find their way into NEO Magazine on a monthly basis, while everything else finds its way here. Be it quirky news item from the Land of the Rising Sun, or a story so gruesome it'd be rude not to pass it on, you'll find it here along with his general posts about life, work and most importantly play. And yes, he has had articles printed in the likes of MCV, GamesMaster, 360 Gamer and more, thanks for noticing.
