Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra Jive into the UK This July

It looks like it’ll be party time in London from now (the Queen’s jubilee) right through to the end of summer – and adding to the electric buzz, charging through London over the following weeks, is Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra!

The ska / jazz ensemble will return to the UK for two shows as part of the 2012 tour for their brand new album Walkin’. They’ll be performing a festival date at WOMAD Charlton Park between 27-29 July. The festival, standing for World of Music, Arts and Dance also features another group from Japan; Marewrew, who will be performing with Oki Dub Ainu Band and replicating songs of the ancient Ainu people of Japan.

Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra will also be playing the Highbury Garage in London on 28 July. Tickets are on sale now for £18.50 from Ticketweb and HMV Tickets. (UPDATE: This show is now cancelled)

The group have established themselves as one of the premier live acts from Japan, playing extensively at home and abroad. They’ve also collaborated with several big names through their career, including Shiina Ringo, Puffy AmiYumi and Kyoko Koizumi.

Here’s a taste of what to expect:
